SIDE STREET WINE
SIDE STREET WINE
Side Street Wines merges French cellar discipline with California’s appetite for risk. The brief was simple and daring: craft a visual identity that could honor centuries-old technique while channeling the rebellious energy of the brewery space it shares. The result is a brand that tastes—and looks—like a collision between heritage and revolution.

Research
I began with a full audit of the company’s sourcing, production, and service model, shadowing the team from abandoned vineyard rows to the taps at Ojai Valley Brewery. The aha-moment surfaced when we mapped their “use-everything, waste-nothing” philosophy against the radical art movements that challenged rigid academic rules. That parallel—craft tradition meeting cultural defiance—became the north star for every creative decision.

Every bottle functions as a standalone artwork. Labels reference landmark movements—Impressionist light, Dada absurdity, Constructivist geometry—so no two releases feel alike, yet all share the same raw, stencil-style core branding that signals spirited dissent. The bottle becomes a gallery where wine and visual storytelling mature together.

To keep the spirit tactile, we hand screen-printed a series of bottles and merch, then produced limited art prints that mirror the bottle graphics for in-store display. A flexible grid, color system, and type hierarchy ensure new releases slot in seamlessly, while merch, voice, and social presence keep the voice loud and unified.
